AFPSLAI Cebu Branch participated in the activities initiated by the Central Command (CENTCOM) in line with its 10th Founding Anniversary Celebration.
The Medical & Dental Civic Action and Feeding Program were held on November 22, 2011 at Camp Lapu-Lapu. People from nearby barangays (Apas, San Miguel and Lahug) were able to receive free medical and dental check-up, while children were served with Arroz Caldo by AFPSLAI employees. AFPSLAI also sponsored lunch for the entire medical team, and donated some medicines for distribution during the Medical and Dental Civic Action.
On November 26, 2011, Cebu Branch personnel got their hands dirty when they participated in a tree-planting activity at Sitio Dulhugon, Brgy Buhisan. The activity was sponsored by CENTCOM and Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), the largest non-government organization working for social development. After a hike of more than two kilometers, Cebu Branch personnel arrived at the dam where the water supply of Metro Cebu Water District is sourced. Each participant planted fifteen seedlings in the area assigned by PBSP.
The activities of AFPSLAI Cebu Branch Office manifest the mission of the company to serve its community through various initiatives on health and environment.
Last November 10, 2011, AFPSLAI Pagadian Branch donated 72 slippers to 35th Infantry Battalion in support of its KABATAAN (Kaagapay ng Bayan sa Pagkamit ng Kapayapaan) Project. The primary aim of the project is to promote peace and development within the communities in the area. A four-day workshop was conducted to enhance the leadership skills of out-of-school youth, and to help mobilize them in launching inter-agency activities that are focused on curbing insurgency, promoting peace advocacy and enlisting support in the government’s anti-terrorism campaigns. The workshop also includes the youth’s immersion in remote barangays where they distributed free peace t-shirts and slippers to children and adolescents alike, aged 5 to 16 years old.
Ms Anabelle Marcaban, Head of AFPSLAI Pagadian Branch, said that they believe in the objectives of the program. She hopes that their small contribution will somehow create an impact in the AFP’s advocacy for sustainable development and lasting peace.
