Eleven AFPSLAI scholars passed the licensure exams for Nursing, Public Accountancy, Electronics Engineering, Criminology and Teaching.
Among those who passed the Nursing Examination conducted by the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) last December 2011 are: Bernadette A Indal of Manuel S Enverga University Foundation, Inc, Mary Klein C Demakiling of St Paul University-Iloilo, Corazon M Dagupan of Western Mindanao State University, Cel Gibson A Gepte of Brokenshire College, and Marjorie G Pillos of Father Saturnino Urios University. Feezy Rhoss G Montero of University of Iloilo recently took the exam on December 2012, and made it to the official list of Board passers.
Renier Lester G Lorenzo, graduate of Central Philippine University and Wishney S Abenojar of St Columban College took the licensure exam in October 2012 and are now Certified Public Accountants.
Epifanio T Yullin, Jr, who graduated from the University of San Carlos in 2012 as cum laude, took a very demanding profession and he is now an Electronics Engineer.
Raejoy Marie P Rendaje of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges was unfazed with the challenges that came with her course and passed the Criminologist Licensure Examination last October 27, 2012.
Finally, Fatima A Omandam of Saint Columban’s College is now Professional Teacher after passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers—Elementary on September 30, 2012.

Due to the destruction caused by Typhoon Pablo in the provinces of Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley and Davao Del Norte, AFPSLAI donated P 50,000 worth of relief goods to 25th Infantry Battalion last December 2012.
AFPSLAI employees gave their share of blessings as well and donated food, clothes and money. All donations were coursed through AFPSLAI Davao Branch. Cash donations were used to purchase various items such as bottled water, canned goods, noodles, biscuits, and other necessities. The branch personnel, together with the 25th IB personnel, packed and delivered the relief goods to the affected provinces.
On January 11, 2013, the AFPSLAI Board of Trustees declared an 18% per annum or 4.5% per quarter dividend rate for the 4th Quarter of 2012 covering the months of October, November and December. This dividend declaration was later approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on January 24, 2013. Payout of dividends started on January 25, 2013. Checks representing dividends were also released starting the said date. Members, who opted to have their excess dividends transferred to other banks, were also able to withdraw their dividends on the said date and onwards.
Last January 17, 2013, a significant occasion was observed by the AFP financial institutions (AFPMBAI, AFPRSBS and AFPSLAI), which is the change in leadership from an outgoing Chairman to another.
After his assumption of office, LtGen Emmanuel T Bautista AFP rendered a short message. First and foremost, he assured everyone present that he will continue to carry on the remarkable work of his predecessor, particularly in providing leadership and direction for the AFP financial institutions. He said that the sacrifices and services of the soldiers, policemen, firefighters, jail guards and other uniformed employees of government must not go in vain. Their work must be appropriately rewarded, and the financial benefits due them are given at all times. He felt a deep sense of gratitude and enthusiasm as he begins his duty with the AFP finance family, and looks forward to spending his time for the betterment of the financial institutions and for the welfare of their clientele. He said that he shall do his best to maintain the stability of the financial institutions and enjoined everyone to continue to find ways in which improvements can be introduced for the growth and solidarity of the financial institutions.

The Search for Outstanding Member-Entrepreneurs (SOME) was launched to encourage member-borrowers to put their loan to good use through entrepreneurial endeavors. A fundamental part of the Search is social responsibility wherein candidates must be able to improve their lives, their families and have a positive impact to their communities.
Interviews, ocular inspections and evaluation of the businesses were made by the Committee members and the top four finalists were awarded during the morning program of the 40th Anniversary Celebration.
