On February 6, 2017, Camp Alagar Extension Office, located in Lapasan, Cagayan De Oro City, opened its doors to AFPSLAI members. AFPSLAI President & CEO LtGen Virgilio Domingo AFP (Ret), together with Senior Vice President for Administration, BGen Luis Vinoya Jr AFP (Ret), Senior Vice President for Operations, Mr Gilberto Acuesta, and AFPSLAI Cagayan De Oro Branch Office Head Ms Ruth Macahilas, graced the inauguration. Chief of Logistics Research Development Division, P/S Supt Rizalino Borlagdatan, represented Regional Director, P/C Supt Agripino Javier in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The blessing of the building was officiated by Regional Chaplain P/C Insp Victorino Belangdal.

On February 1, 2017, three (3) soldiers, who were conducting Community Support Program, were allegedly killed by some members of the New People’s Army at Sitio Kaleb, Barangay Kibalabag, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. When the news about the ambush broke out, it was learned that two of the casualties were AFPSLAI members. AFPSLAI Cagayan De Oro Branch personnel went out to the bereaved families to express their deepest sympathy. AFPSLAI, likewise, turned over the amount of Php 25,000 each to the widows of killed-in-action (KIA) AFPSLAI members, Pfc Patrick Non and Cpl Owen Yee.
Mrs Janice Non and Mrs Alma Lou Yee were truly grateful to the Assocation, especially for the personalized service that AFPSLAI Branch Office Head Ms Ruth Macahilas accorded them.
AFPSLAI offers Assistance to Lift Member’s Survivors (ALMS) amounting to Php 25,000 to the bereaved families of members who were KIA. For other causes of death (including presumptive death), Php 15,000 is given to the families. This benefit may be claimed within two (2) years from the date of death. ###
AFPSLAI Executive Vice President/General Manager, Mr Hector M Atienza, turned over the Association’s donation of 178 reflectorized vests to PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) last February 7, 2017 at HPG Conference Room, Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Accepting the items on behalf of the Unit was HPG Director P/C Supt Antonio N Gardiola Jr. The HPG is one of the operational support units of the Philippine National Police that is mandated to enforce laws along the highways and ensure the safety and security of the motorists and road users. It is later directed by President Rodrigo Duterte to manage the traffic congestion along EDSA.
Also present in the turnover ceremony were P/S Supt Ulysses C Caton (OIC, Deputy Director for Administration, HPG), Mr Arnel V Querubin (Head, AFPSLAI Crame Branch), and select HPG personnel. ###
